ENGIE is committed to responsible growth of its businesses (power, natural gas and energy services) in response to the central challenges of the energy transition towards a low-carbon economy: providing access to sustainably generated energy, combating climate change, reducing its effect and making responsible use of natural resources. The Group is developing high-performance, innovative solutions for personal customers, urban authorities and companies by applying its expertise in four key sectors: renewables, energy efficiency, liquefied natural gas and digital technologies.
Currently, Engie has one CSP Plant development that has achieved Financial Close and is currently in advanced construction. This is the 100MW Kathu 1 Parabolic Trough CSP Plant in South Africa. Furthermore, Engie has bid for both Parabolic Trough and Solar Tower projects in South Africa and results of the tender process are still awaited. Engie had unsuccessfully bid the Noor 2 and Noor 3 projects in Morocco and the DEWA CSP Project in Dubai. Engie continues to look at other projects with long term PPAs. Laborelec which is part of the Engie group has also been closely following the CSP technology developments. Tractebel (which includes the former Lahmeyer International organisation), have participated in several CSP Projects in roles such as Development Services Engineer, Owners Engineer, Advisor to Procurer etc.
